A friend of the family is separated from his wife due to infidelity, spousal abuse and a number of other vindictive behaviors. Against his better judgement he adopted her five year old adopted child. She just recently filed for child support against him, knowing full well that he is currently paying child support ( $900 a month) for his birth children from a previous marriage. She promised to drop the child support order if he agrees to reconcile their relationship. He is currently in arrears of about $13,000. What can he do?

I got married about a month ago, with the understanding that my husband would move to live with me. He now won’t move. We are trying to get the marriage annulled, but in the event that this doesn’t work, he is angry enough with me that he wants to have a contested divorce. We don’t own anything together and we’ve never lived together. I make more money than he does, but he has a job and an education. Am I going to have to pay him alimony or some other type of support?

In California there is the ongoing debate about Prop 8 and a ban on *** marriage. I’m a bit confused on some of the details. Is the non-hetero community trying to get legal rights which are not currently available to them, in the form of forming a legally recognized union (whatever it may be called) between two people?

Or is this about having the right to refer to legally recognized unions between non-hetero partners as “marriage”?

My fiancĂ© and I are getting married this summer/fall. I don’t want to get a marriage license. I think that being legally married isn’t as important as the commitment we are making to each other. Is it fraud if I take his name and in social settings we refer to each other as husband and wife, however legally we maintain our single status?
He will actually loose his social security benefits if we get the license. He is considered a disabled adult/ child, because he was disabled at birth. He is in a wheelchair and he depends on that money. Being a disabled adult/ child means that it goes through his father’s social security. Also we have already filled power of attorney papers as well as our wills. Common Law marriage is not longer allowed where we live.

I am a Christian and am married. I have been unhappy for many years. My husband is not a Christian. I have been emotionally abused for most of the marriage, and have finally decided to divorce this man. I have recently met a wonderful man, a Christian man, and we love each other completely. Our love is pure and we have not crossed any lines. There has been no adultery in the physical sense, although emotionally, my heart belongs to him. Will God forgive us and allow us to be together? Does the bible talk about this?

I want to become a family/marriage counselor. I’m working on a bachelor of psychology now. I don’t have the time to become a licensed psychologist, I just want to work with hurting children and families.
I’ve heard some people say it takes hours (approx. 2000) of clinical work before you can become licensed.
How is it then that pastors have clergy licenses and are able to counsel people.
I’m wondering if it would be easier to get a theology degree and counsel through a church.
Any suggestions?
