I just joined the US Navy and am currently living in Wisconsin. Next Summer my family and I will be moving to/near a base in the US. My wife and I have 2 young children and was wondering if anyone knew the best Navy base to raise children. Considering the crime rate, the elementary schools, the family activities the city offers, cost of living, traffic. We understand that we will only be living there temporarily, but really want our kids to get a good start at school and have things for us to do as a family (cheap stuff) and have it safe where we all feel comfortable. Can anyone help us out?

Wife of 82nd Medic asked:
My husband’s in the 82nd and we’ve been having some marital problems since he got back from Iraq 8 months ago…its to the point now we need counseling or a separation. The Army isn’t exactly a 9 – 5 job and marriage counselors aren’t 24/7, so would my husband’s unit let him have time off to see one?
We just decided tonight on counseling and I’m going to start looking for one tomorrow…I’m just curious how it would work.

Hello, I am a Cadet in the Army and will be commissioned at the end of this school year. My question is I met a girl who is joining the Navy reserves and plans to become an officer too but won’t be able to for at least another half school year. My question is we have so much in common and have a lot of fun together but I was just wondering how strict the reserve side would be on dating somone from another branch who is also in the reserves and is planning to become an officer but isnt at the moment? I know there is a good chance that I wouldnt even half to sneek around because in the reserves no one would even know since it is a once a month thing but I dont really want to get in trouble at all.

Jane asked:
Would you be limited to fellow officers for dating possibilities or would you be allowed to meet other people around town if you were stationed in America?

My boyfriend and I were planning on marrying next year, but we’re curious if we should put the marriage onto paper when he comes home on leave, so that we can start getting the benefits of marriage, even before we have the big ceremony.

Curious how much it costs to file for a marriage license, and the specific benefits we’ll get from being married while he’s active duty in the army. Still unsure where his duty station will be, currently he’s in boot camp.
