My 12 year old daughter wants to start dating and she promises she won’t do anything. Should I let her?

I have a 14-1/2 year old freshman daughter who was just asked to homecoming. I am allowing her to go, as they are going in a large group and I have just met the young man for the first time. I still maintain she’s too young to date one-on-one and she cannot get into a car with someone that I have not met/do not know. What rules have you set up with your teen and dating?
I have a 19 year old son who did not start dating until he was a junior/senior in high school. He was interested in school activities, sports and working – so I was not prepared for this to happen so soon.
Please no sarcastic comments – I am looking for parents’ replies – not other teens. Thanks!
to the first poster: that’s where I am at – I am looking to set reasonable limits and boundaries – If I had it my way – she wouldn’t date at all..but that’s unreasonable…which is why I posted the question.

My daughter is 12 years old and he knows how old she is, yet he’s dating her and my daughter claims she loves him and so on. He’s definately a nice boy (very polite), but he’s too old and I know they have been having intercourse beucase I’ve found alot of used condoms in her room and I’ve heard some commotion from her room a couple of times when he was in there. I don’t want to report it to the police since I don’t want to get the boy into any trouble, since they obviously been having sex. What can I do?

OK. I am asking this question becuase I want to do something about it obviously.
He looks younger and he’s very immature. AND I do think it matters that he’s a nice boy, a mother could definately find herself with a worse boy dating her daughter. Also, it’s definately not rape.
The reason why I will not contact the police is also for the boys safety and not only what my daughter will think of me.

For some of you who don’t know, America now has a 50+% divorce rate which anyone with a right mind could tell that its a big problem.
Some sociologists and psychiatrists say that one way to solve the divorce problem is to teach people, especially children, the importance of strong family values and strength of character.
But modern day television shows plots where characters are divorced or remarrying and how involved characters deal with it. Even children’s shows have this, usually to help children deal with divorced or remarrying parents.
But the problem is these plots get misinterpreted by kids. That aside from learning how to deal, they get the impression that divorce IS inevitable. That marriage will ALWAYS be temporary.
So now how would you teach kids how to deal with their divorced/remarried parents AND at the same time teach them the importance of strong family values?

I am pregnant with my second girl right now and I love my 1st sooo much that I don’t understand how there will be enough love for the new baby too. Does it take love away from your first and use it for your second? I just don’t know how I can love and provide equal attention to both of my girls.
