How do I get a green card after marriage?
blarneyspeakred asked:
Will we be put under a microscope? This is a legit marriage, if I have to live in Europe w/ him, I will, so no smartass answers please.
Why don’t you read correctly before you answer?? Jeez…

Stay in Europe and check with the policies there.

After marriage you will need to file for Adjustment of Status (Form I-485) to receive your Permanent Resident status.
And yes to some extent you will be put under a microscope. Once your AOS application is processed, they will schedule an interview for you and your spouse. You will be required to submit evidence of a continued and genuine marriage such as financial documents in both names, utility bills in both names, shared credit cards, pictures, letters, etc. The USC will have to submit an Affidivat of Support (Form I-864) to show that the foreign spouse will be financially supported and not become a public charge.
It’s really not as daunting as it sounds. If the marriage is genuine, its not difficult at all to prove it.

Well after you marry you will need to file for greencard. Go find a good attorney to get this done for you.
To prove that your marriage is a legit one, you will need to show photos of you together, phone records, love letters, joint bank acount or have joint car insurance…stuff like that shows your lives are joined together like in real marriages.
Of course you will need a legal marriage certificate and you will need to sponsor him. That means you will have to be working to be able to support him. If you are not working you will have to get a co- sponsor…someone who works.
After you file, it might take 3 months to get him a work permit and his ssn. About 6 months from the time of your filing he wouuld get a temporary greencard if you both passe the interview by Immigration. If you do not in the beginning, provide enough evidence like i mentioned earlier (photos, bills, joint bank acount)
Immmigration will suspect that your marriage is fake and could check up on you.
But go see an attorney and he/she will tell you what you need.
Good luck
