Five states allow domestic partnerships. They are California, Oregon, Maine, Washington, and District of Columbia
One state recognizes marriages/unions/partnerships entered from another jurisdiction, and that is New York.

Iowa legalized same *** marriage in August, 2007, but same *** marriages were stopped shortly after a court stayed their decision pending an appeal to Iowa’s Supreme Court. The Court will begin hearing arguments in December, 2008.
California legalized same *** marriage in May, 2008, but the rights of a same *** couple to marry was put to a vote in November, 2008 and same *** marriage is no longer legally recognized.
Connecticut legalized same *** marriage in October, 2008.
Massachusetts and Connecticut are the only states that currently issue marriage licenses to same *** couples.
