In California there is the ongoing debate about Prop 8 and a ban on *** marriage. I’m a bit confused on some of the details. Is the non-hetero community trying to get legal rights which are not currently available to them, in the form of forming a legally recognized union (whatever it may be called) between two people?

Or is this about having the right to refer to legally recognized unions between non-hetero partners as “marriage”?

Why do gays think they should have special rights? Marriage is between a man and woman only. Straight people don’t have the right to marry someone of the same sex so the law is the same for gays and normal people. How in the world can homo’s think its discrimination when the law is the same for gays and straight people?

Gay marriage is allowed in 3 states, CA, CT and MA. What will be the next states to accept *** marriage? When? Will it happen?

Besides the fact that a civil union is legal and gay marriage isn’t. I was wondering if there’s any specific differences.
