is this the reason why so many marriages break up?

Saturday 8 May 2010 @ 3:12 am
Nat R asked:

so many marriages break up before the fifth anniversary. do you think that the divorce rate is so high because people are marrying for social status that boosts their ego rather than for true love and compatibility?
That is, is it a lust for superficial things that are valued by others in society, like looks, money and material things, that people are choosing to marry for initially, later to find out that those things don’t make marriage tolerable or healthy in the long-term?
I find that some people in my generation (i’m a 34 year-old australian) seek their real emotional support and empathy from their friendships and marry their spouse so they can have kids and a nice lifestyle. There is no reallyenduring, deep connection with their husband or wife. I find it really sad and discouraging.
When the going gets tough, they don’twant to bother to help their spouse – it’s an inconvenience in their picture perfect life.

Why do people say marriage doesn’t define love, but they believe in *** marriage?

Tuesday 13 October 2009 @ 4:58 am
sweetssssss asked:

If *** people have lived this long without being married and their happy why do they need marriage?

I don’t believe anybody needs marriage.

If you’re in love, you don’t need a ring to show it.
“Clown”
You’re just naming reasons and they all have to do with money!

I think *** people are more equal than minorities.

Did having children negatively impact your marriage?

Friday 21 August 2009 @ 6:00 am
kidfree asked:

It takes a lot of time, energy, and money to raise a child. You have to divide your time between your child and spouse. You may end up neglecting your spouse due to the needs of your child. You or your spouse may have to work longer hours to pay the bills. How has having a child impacted your marriage?

Why do dating sites charge for their services?

Thursday 25 June 2009 @ 12:01 pm
Ryan asked:

Myspace and Facebook offer their services for free and they make all of their money through advertisements. Why isn’t there a large FREE dating website that does the same thing. I know there are a few free ones but they aren’t as good as the pay sites.

What type of payment will I owe my spouse if we get divorced after a short marriage?

Thursday 27 November 2008 @ 9:36 pm
qgs asked:

I got married about a month ago, with the understanding that my husband would move to live with me. He now won’t move. We are trying to get the marriage annulled, but in the event that this doesn’t work, he is angry enough with me that he wants to have a contested divorce. We don’t own anything together and we’ve never lived together. I make more money than he does, but he has a job and an education. Am I going to have to pay him alimony or some other type of support?
