Age is not the question,

I hate it when people try to set an age for this and an age for that, what is more important is the LEVEL OF MATURITY. I think that any idiot knows that some 12 year olds can behave very maturely while some 20 years old have the maturity level of an 8 year old, remember the Columbine mass-murderers, one was 18 the other 17, how about the Virgina tech, was that 12 year old? Didn’t think so

Hear is my Answer:

Talk to her, explain to her about protection and explain that dating does not need to involve a sexual relationship and if you feel that she can handle it and is mature enough, why would you not let her date. I dated a girl when I was 13.
I do not see what harm can come out of holding hands or kissing!!

Im 16 and i would say about 13 depending on how mature they are as long as you keep an eye on the relationship and make sure that you talk to your daughter about sex and relationships etc.xxx

I think 14-15 is an appropriate age. They will probably do it earlier beyond your back. I’m 13.

If it’s supervised just holding hands and hanging out then 13-14. real dating shouldn’t begin until 16-17 and that still depends on the maturity of the child.

Sixteen years old.
Twelve is much too young. I can’t even imagine an innocent little girl that age dating.

I would say that actually dating- like going out with just one person- should probably wait until somewhere around 15 or 16, but there’s no harm in a 12 year old having a boyfriend who they hang out with at school functions, and maybe come over to the house (obviously when someone is home). My parents never set any exact rules on when I would be allowed to start dating, but that’s pretty much what they implied and what I went by. I had a few “boyfriends” for like a month at a time in middle school, but I really didnt start dating until 16. Of course its only my opinion, but I think this was a good to go. I never felt like my parents were too strict on me, but I also knew I couldn’t just run wild. Hope this helps. Oh, and I’m 20.

Personally I think about 16, I’m not just saying that because I’m 16. I’ve pretty much always felt this way.

Let’s think about it, 16 is the first big milestone. For example, in some countries you can drive, get married, have sex, get a job, drink, smoke etc. (I’m not saying you should be doing most of this stuff so young)

Although I honestly still do think dating is a joke between the majority of teenagers, it’s just so they can say they have a boyfriend/girlfriend and things like this, it’s not for the correct reasons. They should just forget about dating about it until they are mature enough, this could be any age! Maybe as early as 14 or as late as 19. Both people involved can be extremely immature and ignorant about the situation, if they are too young and both could get very hurt in the end.

So, it really just depends on the individual person at the end of the day but I think 16 is ok.
