In Uk, they say that the woman can ask a man to marry her on a leap year but maybe you don´t want to wait that long, I would just find a good, romantic moment and pop the question, if he´s not happy about it, then I´m sure he´ll let you know and if that´s the case, then better you know sooner rather than later.

I proposed to my husband and we’re 16 years in. Don’t try to trick him or anything. Just tell him directly that you are thinking seriously about marriage and then ask him how he feels about it. At least in the end he will feel you dealt with him in an upright way and you will know exactly where he stands. :)

Be direct if u want an honest answer:)
It’s good to know where u stand in life!
You can’t just keep waiting and hopeing for things to happen by themselves. May your wishes clear. Good luck.

If you are trying to get him to ask you to marry him, that is unfair because you are asking him to do something that didn’t come from him YET. What is your rush? Why would you want to marry someone that is not ready? You said yourself that you just started working so he may be too occupied with trying to pay off his car, paying for his mortgage and trying establish a life on his own. You should be trying to establish a life of your own too. Keep in touch with him and try to make the relationship work but don’t try to force someone to marry you, it is unfair. But if you really want him to marry you, then you should ask him to marry you.

I think honesty is always best. Maybe not proposing but talking about where you stand and what you would like will at least get you his side. I don’t think guys should be manipulated, it will always end up badly eventually. But you have a right to know where it’s headed so you can start planning what you are going to do in your future.

Honesty is the always the best policy. You might bring it up in conversation and see where it takes you. Maybe he’s ready but doesn’t know that you are!

I proposed to my boyfriend, but knew that he was ready and I was the one that was unsure. His answer was an outstanding “yes!” since I already knew how he felt.

There’s nothing wrong with asking him right-out, but it’s also good to each know what the other is thinking about on the matter.
