Psychology. When you get your undergraduate degree, you then usually have to get your Masters in psychology, which can take an additional 1-2 years, after which will allow you to become a certified psychotherapist. If you want to become a marriage counselor specifically, you either read up a lot on the subject and/or intern with another marriage counselor for a bit.

Often times to have your own practice it will require a masters degree or doctorate, depending on the state. You can probably go directly into a human services, psychology, social work masters program with your sociology degree.
