marriage

I am asking for the year that marriage was established as a union between a man and a women, not a man and three women, or a women and 4 men.

Well I suppose the answer would be with the arrival of the first European settlers European law travelled with them.

Marriage is governed by state laws, not federal law. So look up the relevant statute for each state (and each state DOES define marriage) and see when it was first enacted.

There was no such time when it wasn’t. The very first societies had marriage, and even our prehistoric ancestors or relatives were probably monogamous. Even in societies where a man might have more than one wife, like early Egypt, there was still a principal wife.
