What’s the difference between dating & in a relationship?

Casy Eve asked:

Hi all,

This could be my first time dating with a white guy (i m asian).

I am always confused the difference between dating & in a relationship. I don’t want to be pushy or frost bound. When should I call him as my boyfriend? Does it have to have sexual relationship involved?

Is it very common to have sexual relationship with your boyfriend in the American culture? Yah, I am pretty worried now :(

I think that there are very few differences in men of different cultures, and you will know if you want him as a boyfirend if you feel loved and supported by him, if you can talk to him openly about your feelings, if he is good to you and if you feel like being good to him. As for sex, it doesn’t matter what your ethnic background, don’t do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing. You do not have to have *** with him, and he will probably respect you more for not having *** in the long run. Stand up for yourself and for your beliefs and if he’s the right one, you will know.
